Welcome to NAMI El Paso
Are you or someone you love affected by mental illness? NAMI El Paso can help!
The National Alliance on Mental Illness in El Paso (NAMI El Paso) is a grassroots, non-profit organization. Our mission is to provide advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.
Thanks to the generosity of Paso Del Norte Health Foundation, the Stern Foundation, and the kind support of our sponsors and donors through our annual NAMIWalks event, NAMI El Paso is able to offer educational programs, trainings and support groups free of charge to our community.
We invite you to browse our website to view our calendar of programs and events, resources, basic information, and ways to become involved with NAMI El Paso, recipient of the 2014 Texas Affiliate of the Year award and one of the first ten affiliates in the nation to earn the Standards of Excellence designation.
NAMI El Paso Mission
The families and members of NAMI El Paso are here to help! We offer understanding to anyone concerned about mental illnesses and the treatment of mental illness.
Mental illnesses are brain disorders that are biologically based medical problems. Untreated, they can cause severe disturbances in thinking, feeling and relating. This results in substantially diminished capacity for dealing with the ordinary demands of life. Mental illness can affect persons of any age and occur in any family. They are not caused by bad parenting and are not evidence of weakness of character.
The mission of NAMI El Paso is to provide advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.
NAMI El Paso envisions a world where all persons affected by mental illness experience resiliency, recovery and wellness.
