Rising Above the Stigma for National Mental Health Awareness Month
El Paso, TX– Join NAMI El Paso as they kick off May as Mental Health Awareness Month. NAMI is hosting the Rising Above the Stigma: Mental Health Awareness Kickoff Event on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 9AM. The event will be at the top of the Franklin Mountains at the Wyler Aerial Tramway located at 1700 McKinley Ave.
From 4,692 feet up above, NAMI El Paso will gather with the community as they take the pledge to be Stigma Free. No one can heal in isolation so together we can spread awareness by openly discussing our own experiences with mental health conditions. Texas District 78 State Rep. Joe Moody, NAMI El Paso Board President Jim Jopling, and dedicated NAMI El Paso volunteer Miguel Hernandez will be speaking about the efforts being put forth by the organization.
“We are very excited to bring our community together to increase awareness about mental health,” says Brenna Bandstra, Office Manager, “we can’t thank the Wyler Aerial Tramway enough for providing such a beautiful venue."
